What is Coriolis?

Coriolis is the private business of Joe Minato. I provide these services and more.

​

Sometimes I call myself, "The Coriolis Institute for Authentic Education." That is a dream I have.

Smart City Learning Cafe

I host (with my wife, Amy) the Smart City Learning Cafe, a free, drop-in high school tutoring every Wednesday during the school year 7 - 9 pm, Fat City Cafe, Multnomah Village Portland Oregon.

Astronomy

I lead star parties for the public and small private groups. I help with a Youth Astronomy Club.

I lead astronomy activities and events, and star parties in Wallowa County each summer.

​

I lead the Dark Sky Weekend at PLAYA at Summer Lake.

Wallowology

I am involved with the Wallowology Natural History Discovery Center in Joseph, Oregon. ​

Tutoring

I tutor physical science and math at the high school and college levels.

Teacher Training 

I offer continuing education and coaching for science teachers at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

Playa at Summer Lake

Amy and I are involved with several great projects at Playa at Summer Lake

DarkSky Oregon

I am on the board of directors of DarkSky Oregon, a non-profit group dedicated to protecting Oregon's night sky.
