Minato's Math Lab​

Minato's Math Lab is an extension of Minato's Math Mentoring. If you have not read that page, do so now then come back here.

​

Minato's Math Lab is a place where students can work on their iXL work with a handful (eight maximum) of other students and with supervision by Joe Minato. The goal is to boost fundamental math skills. The intent of Math Lab is not to work on homework in a current math class. Sign up for regular tutoring with me and/or come to the Smart City Learning Cafe for that.

  1. Many students and parents report that Minato's Math Mentoring would work better for them if the student was held accountable for doing their independent work. They also say that this is just too hard with a busy schedule.

  2. I will open my office to up to eight students for 90 minutes per week as Minato's Math Lab. Students will come and work on their iXL under my supervision. I need a minimum of four students to run this program.

  3. We are presently meeting Sundays, 4:00 - 5:30 pm. If I get more than eight students I will add another time slot. We are presenting at six students (as of February 11, 2025).

  4. The fee is $30/session ($20/hour for a 90 minute session).

    1. ​I bill on the first of the month for the previous month using Square. Just like my regular tutoring.

    2. Students do not need to come to every session. Parents are billed only for each session that a student attends.

    3. About two days before each meeting I will contact students and parents to confirm attendance for the next session. 

  5. ​Occasionally Joe may be absent and will have a qualified substitute or we will cancel that session. 

    1. I know that I am unavailable on ​Sunday, February 16. We are cancelling that week.

    2. We are not meeting Sunday, March 23 or Sunday, March 30 for Spring Break.

    3. I will most likely be unavailable on ​Sunday, April 20 and Sunday, April 27. I will do my best to find a substitute for these days.
